I, the customer, understand and accept the following:
HEAT TREATING
Jarod Todd Heat Treating will do their best to provide me with a quality Heat Treat. I understand things like cracks and warps can occur when heat treating blades. I will not hold JT Custom Knives liable for anything that may happen. I know some things are out of their control and understand they will do their best to prevent such things from occurring. Blades can bow, twist and/or warp when heat treated and will be corrected to the best of their ability. NO flexing, twisting or spot torching will be implemented to straighten blades.
BLADE STRAIGHTENING
Jarod Todd Heat Treating employs a blade straightening technique called surface peening. I understand that this process leaves small/shallow dimples comparable to the tip of a ballpoint pen on the surface. This surface finish will be removed during surface grinding if I have chosen to have my blades surace ground.
STAINLESS FOIL
High temp blades require a stainless envelope to protect the blade from the high temperatures and scaling caused from oxidation. I understand that this foil is very thin and can develop a leak which will create a dark surface spot. This spot usually only affects the surface and is easily removed when the blade is finished. Jarod Todd Heat Treating will surface grind at their expense any blades that develop a leak that creates a spot that thy deam is not easy to remove during finishing.
STEEL
The 15n20 is reclaimed and at a hardness of 42-43 RC. Jarod Todd Heat Treating does their best to provide high quality steel at a much lower priced compared to new steel. I understand that being reclaimed means there can be surface rust, scratches, bows and other artifacts created from its previous life. I know Jarod Todd Heat Treating does their very best to cull any steel that could have edge cracks or is in any way unfit for use. All other steel supplied by them is new and of known origin.
SURFACE GRINDING
Surface grinding removes material from the flat surfaces of the blade and this process will reduce the blade's overall thickness. I know Jarod Todd Heat Treating will, to the best of their ability, remove as little material as possible to get to the requested surface finish. Bows or warps may require a higher amount of material to be removed to achieve the required finish. I understand that slight bowing can occur from surface grinding and will be corrected to the best of their abilities.
SHIPPING
Once shipped, the blades or other items are no longer under their control and I will assume full responsibility from there on out. I understand that shipping is not 100% reliable and I do have the option to ship insured with my chosen shipping provider at my own expense.
PAYMENT
The prices listed are provided to the customer to give an estimate of the final cost. The cost for goods and services could be more depending on the work required and shipping costs. I understand that Jarod Todd Heat Treating strives to provide a fair price for the goods and services they offer.
